The Bee Movie Literacy Project
This blog is set up to engage students in exploring all about bees! Students need to access the S:/The Bee Movie and view the All About Bees file. Students then need to answer the questions on this blog. Remember to add your first name, last initial, and classroom teacher's name to each response. bees use propolis to seal up cracks in the hive. The bees also use propolis to cover up dead mice if it gets in the hive and gets killed.

On the back of the worker bees, there is a black, sticky, gummy item, made of gathered trees, bark and buds, this is called the “Propolis”. When there are cracks in the hive, the bees use the propolis to seal them up. This helps keep out the cold weather. If a small animal, example a mouse, is able to get inside of the hive, then it is slaughtered by the worker bees. Yet they cannot carry the body out of the hive, for it is too big. The bees use propolis to seal up the dead body, so that sickness is not introduced into the hive with rotting remains.
